I have the good fortune of dropping my daughter off at school at 6:15, so each day after that I’ve been taking a dawn patrol bike ride for a couple hours. The air has a crisp fall chill on it at 6:30 in the morning, and the only traffic on the trail is the occasional bike commuter. I stopped to check out Rainier with the light of dawn just starting to show itself behind the silhouette of the Cascades and snapped this picture with my phone.
Living here in the Northwest, the chill in the air reminds me that snowboarding is right around the corner. I picked up my Big S Pass before the September 16th price increase, and since I’m a Crystal Mountain alumnus I bought the Gold upgrade so I’ll be bagging a minimum of five days at the home mountain. Now I just need a couple new boards for the quiver.
In snow news, I heard rumor that Keystone Colorado got their first snow of the year. The Cascades have had a couple dustings above 7000 feet, so I know winter is getting closer. Soon I’ll be hitting dawn patrol missions at Alpy and Crystal instead of solo bike missions. I can’t wait!
